New Delhi, January 7, 2026
President of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee , S. Harmeet Singh Kalka, disclosed that a delegation of the DSGMC met the Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, here today and strongly raised the issue of the insensitive and objectionable remarks made by Aam Aadmi Party leader Atishi.
S. Harmeet Singh Kalka stated that at a time when the entire nation is solemnly and reverently commemorating the supreme martyrdom of Dharam Di Chadar, Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji—who laid down His life for the protection of faith and human rights—such remarks are highly condemnable. He emphasized that these statements reflect grave disrespect towards Guru Sahib and have caused deep anguish and hurt to the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
He further asserted that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee demands strict and exemplary action in this matter, so that no individual in the future dares to insult the revered Guru Sahiban or undermine the sacred religious sentiments of any community.
