Chandigarh, March 15(Press Ki Taquat)- A team of Anti Corruption Bureau, Haryana has arrested a Divisional Accounts Officer of Public Health Engineering Department in Rohtak district red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000 for clearing bills of contractors. While stating this here today, a spokesman of Anti Corruption Bureau said that the apprehended accused, Divisional Accounts Officer Vijay Kumar Singh, is a native of District Buxar, Bihar and was presently working in Division No. 02 Rohtak in Public Health Engineering Department. Sundar Singh, a resident of Vishal Nagar, Rohtak, told in the complaint given to the ACB that he works as a contractor in Public Health Division No. 2, Rohtak. He had taken up the works of leakage of water supply and installation of tubewells in Sampla sub-division, whose bills were pending with the accused Divisional Accounts Officer Vijay Kumar Singh for passing. For passing these bills, the accused officer demanded Rs 22,000. For this the accused had already taken Rs 2000 and is now demanding Rs 20,000. On receiving the complaint, after verifying the facts, the ACB team conducted a raid and nabbed the accused Divisional Accounts Officer Vijay Kumar Singh red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs.20,000. During this, Rs 20,000 taken in bribe was recovered from him and a case has been registered against him in ACB police station Rohtak under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further action is going on in this regard.
