As per the directions of Punjab State Legal Services Authority and under the supervision of Ms. Rupinderjit Chahal, Ld. District & Sessions Judge-cum- Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala, ‘VIDHAN SE SAMADHAN’- A Legal Awareness Programme for women was organized at Government Senior Secondary School, Bahadurgarh, Patiala by District Legal Services Authority, Patiala in collaboration with Panchayat Department and School Administration. Anganwari Workers, Sarpanches, Panches and school staff attended this programme. During this programme, they were sensitized about the concept of “Equal Pay for Equal Work” for women under Indian Constitution, The Factories Act, 1948 and Concept of Human Trafficking and free legal aid etc. by Ms Ravinder Kaur Jassar, Panel Advocate. Audience was also made aware about offences against women like acid attack, rape, abduction, sexual assault of any kind under IPC and provisions regarding cruelty and dowry harassment under Indian Penal Code, Domestic Violence Act, POCSO Act, various Government Schemes regarding women and role and function of The National Commission for Women and NALSA by Ms Roma Rani, Panel Advocate.
Besides, a session of open discussion and questioning with regard to legal rights and laws for women was also done. Ms Manni Arora, Chief Judicial Magistrate cum Secretary, District Legal Services Authority, Patiala addressed the gathering and replied the queries put by the audience. On this occasion, audience was also made aware about free legal services, mediation and conciliation center, benefits of lok adalat and about upcoming National Lok Adalat to be held on 09.12.2023.
