New Delhi, June 25 (Ozi news desk): In relation to the alleged excise scam, the Delhi High Court has taken a different stance from the trial court by staying the order that granted bail to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The vacation bench, presided over by Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain, expressed dissatisfaction with the trial court’s decision, stating that it failed to properly consider the evidence presented by the Enforcement Directorate and did not exercise proper judgment when deciding on Kejriwal’s bail plea. The judge further emphasized that the trial court should have allowed sufficient opportunity for the agency to present its arguments. As a result, the high court has suspended the implementation of the order. It is worth noting that the trial court had previously granted bail to Kejriwal on June 20, requiring him to provide a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh. However, the Enforcement Directorate promptly approached the high court the following day, arguing that the trial court’s order was flawed, biased, and based on irrelevant facts. This case is particularly significant as the excise policy in question was abolished in 2022 after the Delhi lieutenant governor initiated a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities and corruption surrounding its formulation and execution.
