By promptly redressing 6247 complaints received through the cyber helpline number in the month of September, an amount of more than Rs 4 crore 14 lakh, 15 thousand 82 was saved from fraud, which is a record figure for this year.
Giving information about this, the government spokesperson said that for redressal of complaints related to cyber fraud, manpower has been increased on the helpline number-1930 being operated by the Union Home Ministry so that the ‘Golden Hour’ i.e. the time period during which the rupee The chances of getting hold are high, by taking action people’s deposited capital can be protected from cyber fraud. Apart from this, an action plan was prepared in a meeting with private bank officials under the chairmanship of the Director General of Police so that the bank employees and the cyber helpline team could make united efforts and take prompt action.
He told that earlier in the month of August, 6064 complaints were received on the cyber helpline, by taking action on which the team saved the fraud of Rs 3 crore 78 lakh 98 thousand 420. Similarly, an additional amount of Rs 35 lakh was held in the month of September as compared to the month of August.
The Director General of Police said that to stop cyber crime, it is necessary to take immediate action on the complaint received on the helpline number and send it to the nodal officers of the bank and the officers of the concerned bank also take immediate action on it and transfer it to the bank. Freeze the money. The sooner this process is completed, the sooner the fraudulent amount can be held.
It is noteworthy that the Director General of Police visited the office of cyber helpline number as soon as he assumed charge. During this, the challenges faced in redressal of complaints received on the cyber helpline number were studied in detail and to deal with these challenges, an effective action plan was prepared by holding a meeting with the bank employees. However, it was more challenging to resolve the complaints received late at night and on holidays, to solve this, bank employees were asked to appoint their nodal officers even on holidays. As a result, an amount of more than Rs 35 lakh was saved from cyber fraud in the month of September as compared to the previous month.
To make this helpline more effective, as per the instructions of the Director General of Police, a team of HDFC Bank employees visited the office of Cyber Helpline in the first week of October. During this, he understood in detail the working system done through cyber helpline.
