In the state level felicitation ceremony organized for the medal winning players and participating players at Danveer Karna’s Dhara Karnal, the Chief Minister gave a cash prize of Rs 3 crore to the gold medal winning players, Rs 1.5 crore to the silver medal winning players and Rs 75 lakh to the bronze medal winning players. Chief Minister dedicated 10 Khelo India centers to the people of Haryana under Khelo India Scheme
Before the felicitation ceremony of the players, the Chief Minister inaugurated 10 Khelo India centers in Haryana under the Khelo India Scheme and dedicated them to the people of the state. These centers have been established in districts Ambala, Faridabad, Palwal, Yamunanagar, Jind, Jhajjar, Charkhi Dadri, Kurukshetra, Kaithal and Bhiwani. The establishment of these centers will add new dimensions to the sports infrastructure in Haryana.
Shri Manohar Lal said that 15 Khelo India centers have been approved for Haryana by the Union Sports Ministry, out of which 10 centers have been inaugurated today and 5 more centers will also be established next year. These 5 centers will be opened in Hisar, Sirsa, Nuh, Sonipat and Karnal. The Chief Minister said that he will request Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Shri Anurag Singh Thakur to give permission to establish Khelo India Center in the remaining 17 districts also, so that with the opening of centers in all 22 districts, we children can participate in Khelo India and other big competitions. The Chief Minister said that Haryana is number one in terms of sports in India. From Rio Olympics to Asian Games, Haryana players have shown their glory in every competition. Neeraj Chopra of Haryana won the country’s first track and field gold medal. He said that today other states are also following the sports policies of Haryana. In Haryana, we are giving Rs 6 crore and job facilities to the Olympic gold medal winning player. Similarly, the Asian Games gold medal winning player is being given a cash prize of Rs 3 crore and job facilities. He said that the state government has made many reforms in sports policies. To promote sports inclination among children since childhood, 1100 nurseries are being run in the state under the Catch Them Young Policy, where children are trained for sports as per their interest and ability.
