Jammu and Kashmir, 30-05-2023 (Press Ki Taquat)- A bus going from Amritsar in Punjab to Vaishno Devi shrine in Katra in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday morning fell off a bridge at Jhajjar Kotli, about 35 km from Jammu. 8 people died due to falling into the gorge.
Rescue personnel were immediately rushed to the spot and the injured were shifted to Jammu Government Medical College and Hospital and Primary Health Center at Jhajjar Kotli.
A pilgrim in the bus said that he felt a sudden shock before the bus fell from the bridge into the gorge. At least eight to 10 have died, he added. A crane is being brought in to check if anyone is trapped under the bus. Rescue operation is in progress. It is being told that the bus was coming from Amritsar and there were people from Bihar in it. They may have lost their way to Katra and reached here.
