KL Rahul eased any worries about his fitness with a lengthy net session on Sunday, showing that he’s ready to take on the opening role in the first Test against Australia. This comes as skipper Rohit Sharma will only be joining the squad in Adelaide after spending some precious time with his newborn baby. In Rohit’s absence, the team will be under the leadership of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah. Just a couple of days earlier, Rahul had to leave the field for medical attention after taking a hit to his elbow from pacer Prasidh Krishna during an intra-squad practice match at the WACA ground, but it seems he’s bounced back well. The first Test of the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy is set to kick off at the Optus Stadium on November 22, with the second Test following in Adelaide starting December 6.
