Polling commenced on Wednesday morning for the Maharashtra Assembly elections, where the incumbent BJP-led Mahayuti alliance is striving to maintain its hold on power, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) coalition is aiming for a significant resurgence.
Voting took place across all 288 Assembly constituencies starting at 7 am and concluding at 6 pm, as confirmed by an election official. The counting of votes is scheduled for November 23. Within the Mahayuti alliance, the BJP is contesting in 149 constituencies, the Shiv Sena is competing in 81, and the NCP, led by Ajit Pawar, has nominated candidates in 59 constituencies. Conversely, the opposition MVA coalition comprises the Congress, which has put forth 101 candidates, the Shiv Sena (UBT) with 95 candidates, and the NCP (SP) presenting 86 candidates.
