On Friday, officers from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) executed coordinated search operations at the residences of Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, along with three of his associates, as part of an investigation into purported financial misconduct associated with the institution, according to an official statement. The searches took place at Ghosh’s home located in Beliaghata, as well as at two other sites in Howrah and Subhasgram. It is noteworthy that all four individuals involved are currently in the custody of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The ED has initiated an Enforcement Case Information Report (ECIR) against Ghosh in relation to these allegations. This development follows a directive from the Calcutta High Court on August 23, which mandated the transfer of the inquiry into the alleged financial irregularities at the hospital from a state-formed Special Investigation Team (SIT) to the CBI.
