The Australian women’s cricket team defeated the Indian team by 6 wickets in the first ODI match here today. Batting first, the Indian team made 282 for the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs thanks to Jemima Rodrigues and Pooja Vastrakar’s half-centuries.
Chasing the target, the Australian team won by scoring 285 runs in 46.3 overs thanks to the 148 run partnership for the second wicket by Phoebe Litchfield (78 runs) and Ellyse Perry (75 runs). With this victory, the visiting team has taken a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
Although Indian bowler Renuka Thakur Singh dismissed the opener Alyssa Healy for zero in the first over, but later the Indian bowlers could not leave any significant impact. After the dismissal of Phoebe and Alysse Perry, Beth Mooney scored 42 off 47 balls and T. McGrath played an innings of 68 runs off 55 balls and added 88 runs for the fourth wicket and led the team to victory. For India, Renuka Thakur Singh, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana and Deepti Sharma took one wicket each. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur couldn’t do any good in bowling today. Australia’s Phoebe Litchfield was selected as ‘Player of the Match’ for her excellent performance.
Earlier, the Indian team scored 282 runs thanks to the half-centuries of Jemima Rodrigues (82 runs) and Pooja Vastrakar (62 not out). This is the highest score by the Indian women’s team in ODI matches.
