Chandigarh, 09-06-2023 (Press Ki Taquat)- There is good news for the Sikh community living in Chandigarh because now with the implementation of Chandigarh Anand Marriage by the UT administration, all marriages taking place in the city according to Sikh customs and Anand Marriage Act. 1909 can be registered under
Deputy Commissioner Office UT Chandigarh, Pursuant to the notification issued by Chandigarh Administration, Chandigarh Anand Marriage Registration Rules 2018 have been implemented for registration of marriage under Anand Marriage Act 1909.
Anand Karya or Anand Marriage Act is a Sikh marriage ceremony, meaning “action towards happiness” or “action towards a happy life”, which was introduced by Guru Amardas Ji. The four lavas (hymns that occur during the ceremony) were composed by his successor, Guru Ramdas.
22 states including Haryana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Rajasthan and Delhi have implemented this act.
