Construction of vegetable market completed in mere 8 months

Cabinet Minister also hands over allotment letters to 116 beneficiary Rehdi-fadhi owners during the inaugural function

Vegetable Market comes as a big relief to residents of the city

          Reaffirming the commitment of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to complete every project with good intentions and honest vision, Punjab Cabinet Minister Mr Aman Arora on Saturday threw open the retail vegetable market, constructed with the cost of Rs 1.25 crore, to the residents of Sunam city.

          While inaugurating the retail vegetable market, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora said that  development of this market was his dream project and it would bring relief to hundreds of street vendors, who were forced to stand for hours on the roadsides from Mata Modi Chowk to Shiv Niketan Chowk to ply their trade for several decades as the previous governments had never taken into account the problems faced by the people and the street vendors in the old vegetable market, due to which the place remained deserted for many years, but now, this market, which has been completed in record time of 8 months, has been transformed into an excellent retail vegetable market in a planned manner.

          He said that large capacity parking, washrooms etc. have also been constructed for the convenience of people, while, construction of sheds will also be started at the earliest.

          On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Aman Arora also distributed allotment letters to 116 Rehdi-fadhi owners. The Cabinet Minister congratulated them and said that after developing 160 fadhs (vends), these allocations have been made to the needy through a transparent system which would enable them a respectable earning.

          The Cabinet Minister said that a large number of welfare schemes including education, health, government jobs and free electricity were being run for the public interest. He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has issued grants worth crores of rupees for the comprehensive development of Sunam assembly constituency, under which Rs 3.28 crores were being spent on the renovation of Government Industrial Training Center Sunam and 99 percent of work has already been completed. He said that for the convenience of the players, the construction of the sports stadium also being built at the government ITI worth Rs. 1.87 crores apart from the construction of electricity grids at Sunam and Elwal, and widening of roads on both sides of the railway line in Indira Basti. There are many such projects which are being completed rapidly, including the project of the nature park at a cost of Rs 62 lakhs to benefit the Sunam residents. He said that their government was also establishing two Aam Aadmi Clinics and building two schools of eminence in Sunam. On this occasion, he also bought vegetables from a vendor who has been recently allotted space for selling vegetables in the market.

          On this occasion, Hanghi Khan, the leader of the Rehari Fadhi Union, thanked Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and said that they were very happy with the generosity of the government and this will surely relieve the traffic problem and stray animals in the market. The union members also honored Cabinet Minister Aman Arora and Market Committee Sunam Chairman Mukesh Juneja for making this project a reality. President Municipal Council Nishan Singh Tony and Senior Vice President Asha Bajaj also presented their views on the occasion.
