Chandigarh,28 September (Press Ki Taquat)- Haryana Director General of Police, Shri Shatrujit Kapoor said that All Haryana Road Safety Quiz Competition – 2023 was organized in all the schools and colleges across the state to inculcate the culture of road safety among children. More than 42 lakh students ensured participation in this competition and gave the message of road safety. The first world record was created by ensuring participation of more than 44 lakh children in this competition in the year 2016-17, which was recorded in the Limca Book of Records.
Giving information about this, the government spokesperson said that this campaign under road safety was started in the year 2013 by Director General of Police Mr. Shatrujit Kapoor while holding the post of Inspector General of Police in Faridabad. He said that the basic objective of conceptualizing this campaign was to make various sections of the society as well as children aware about road safety. Under this campaign, an inter-school debate competition was organized in the year 2013 so that when children become young men, they become conscious of road safety and traffic rules from the beginning and become responsible and sensitive citizens and discharge their social responsibilities. Do it. He said that just as parents try to develop good values and good habits in their children since childhood, in the same way this historic initiative was started to strengthen the sense of road safety among children so that they can prevent road accidents. This can be reduced and no member of any family should suffer death in a road accident.
He told that after assuming office in the year 2014, Haryana Chief Minister Shri Manohar Lal started the road safety campaign at the state level. The participation of students in this competition organized every year increased. Not only this, despite being in different departments, Mr. Kapoor continuously guided the campaign related to road safety and remained associated with this campaign with full commitment. For committed thinking and to make the society aware about road safety, campaigns were launched by making strategies of all departments, institutions and action plans. Although the number of vehicles on the roads continued to increase, the graph of road accidents which was in the year 2013-14 remained the same in the year 2023.
He said that many important works were done under this campaign to make the roads of Haryana safe for the common people. All the students were made aware about road safety rules through various quiz competitions. Apart from this, accountability of the concerned department was ensured by improving road engineering as per the requirement. Not only this, an initiative was also taken to provide immediate health facilities to the accident victim immediately after the accident. Road safety, knowledge centers and road safety clubs were established and operated in all schools, colleges and universities. By establishing the Road Safety Fund, arrangements were made to provide adequate funds to all interested institutions and departments. Not only this, driver training centers were established in all the cities and training was conducted there.
Sharing the figures, he said that under this campaign, 14 lakh 55,778 students participated in the year 2013, 34 lakh 13,814 in the year 2014, 43 lakh 65,735 in the year 2015, 44 lakh 95,784 in the year 2017, 30 lakh 3261 in the year 2018, 35 lakh 82,683 students participated. Made sure.
