India on Thursday said that its main issue with Canada is the space given to anti-India elements active in that country and also hoped that India would take action against anti-India elements. External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arimand Bagchi told reporters that India hopes that Canada will take action against anti-India elements. Relations between India and Canada have been under serious strain since Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s accusations that Indian agents were involved in the killing of pro-Khalistan activist Hardeep Singh Nijhar in June. The allegations made by Trudeau in September were strongly rejected by India.
