SAS Nagar, February 8(Press Ki Taquat) – Senior BJP leader and former health minister Balbir Singh Sidhu termed Aam Aadmi Party’s claims of smart schools as false and said that around 54% of government schools in Punjab do not have internet facility, then on what basis Bhagwant Mann is making big claims of converting Punjab’s schools into smart schools all over the world. Sidhu said that considering the increasing impact of technology, uninterrupted internet facility in schools is the demand of today, but the AAP government gives more priority to claims on advertisements than work on the ground. Sidhu further said that 27% of smart schools are also without internet connection as per the figures presented by the Union Ministry of Education. Union Education Ministry data shows that out of 19,259 government schools in Punjab, only 9,013 have internet access. Sidhu said that schools do not become smart just by installing projectors, but to implement it in the right sense, all the structures have to be changed and in which the most important role is the connection of the Internet. Sidhu said that in many places it has also been noticed that the installed projectors do not work and they are brought only to complete the paperwork. Internet connection is required in all schools so that teachers can adopt modern methods to teach students. Apart from this, teachers also need internet to perform their school duties. Sidhu further said that the government should take immediate notice of this matter and speed up the work of ensuring internet facility for the good future of children. Sidhu said that it is very easy to make people happy by showing them dreams, but converting dreams into reality is a big responsibility. The Chief Minister should take his responsibility seriously and stop treating it as a stage show, the people of Punjab can tolerate anything but false slogans.
