Operation Sindoor involved 19 CISF personnel successfully preventing a potential attack by Pakistan on the Uri hydro power plant.

Almost six months after the intense conflict between India and Pakistan, characterized by ‘Operation Sindoor’, tales of bravery from the armed forces continue to surface. Following India’s precision strikes on May 7, which targeted terrorist camps within Pakistan, the Pakistani military retaliated by launching attacks on the Uri hydroelectric power projects located in Jammu and Kashmir. These projects, situated along the precarious Line of Control (LoC) on the River Jhelum in Baramulla district, found themselves under direct threat as Pakistan initiated heavy artillery shelling and drone assaults aimed at crippling this vital infrastructure, thereby endangering the lives of nearby civilians. In response to this aggression, a 19-member team from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), led by Commandant Ravi Yadav, exhibited remarkable valor. As drones from Pakistan descended upon the area, the CISF personnel effectively jammed and shot down several enemy drones near the entrance of the Uri II project. They also undertook a significant evacuation operation, successfully relocating 250 civilians and staff from the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) out of the danger zones, with no casualties reported. Positioned merely eight to ten kilometers from the volatile LoC, the CISF units at the NHPC installations in Uri were thrust into frontline defense as cross-border tensions escalated. Despite enduring relentless shelling and facing severe risks to their own safety, these teams maintained their composure, demonstrating exceptional courage and professionalism in the face of adversity.
