The group reportedly planned a substantial attack in Ayodhya, where a sleeper cell had already been activated by Dr. Shaheen Shahid, one of the individuals apprehended. However, before these plans could materialize, a coordinated effort by the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) and local police resulted in a series of raids and arrests, leading to the seizure of explosive materials and the dismantling of the entire network.
Investigators are now considering the possibility that the recent explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort was not part of the original plan devised by the terror module. Initial assessments indicate that the explosive device did not have a timer or remote activation mechanism, which raises the likelihood that the blast was either accidental or the result of a rushed situation. Sources suggest that the suspects may have been in the process of transporting the explosives when the device detonated unexpectedly. In a related incident, a powerful explosion occurred in a parked Hyundai i20 car near the Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, resulting in the tragic deaths of at least 12 individuals and injuring over 20 others, while also damaging several nearby vehicles.
