Seoul, June 27 (ozi news desk): North Korea announced the successful testing of a multi-warhead missile, marking the first time a developmental weapon of this kind has been launched, a move that is believed to be aimed at enhancing the country’s military capabilities and potentially overwhelming the missile defenses of the United States and South Korea.
However, South Korea was quick to refute North Korea’s claims, dismissing them as an attempt to conceal a failed launch. The state media of North Korea reported that the missile launch conducted on Wednesday was intended to test the separation and guidance control of individual mobile warheads, ensuring the effectiveness of the Multiple Independent Reentry Vehicles.
According to North Korea’s state media, the separated warheads were successfully guided to three specific targets, and a decoy that detached from the missile was tracked by radar. This event, if verified, would mark North Korea’s first public demonstration of a multi-warhead missile, albeit in its early stages of development.
