In Punjab, Jal Diwali has been celebrated from 7th Nov 2023 to 9th Nov 2023. On the concluding day i.e 09.11.2023, teams from Raman in Bathinda, Ganda Kheri in Rajpura, Giani Zail Singh Nagar in Rupnagar and Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar, conducted the visit of more than 150 nos. of women of SHGS to 5 nos. WTPs. This information shared by Local Government Director Uma Shankar Gupta.
Giving more information, Local Government Director, Uma Shankar Gupta said that The ambitious initiative “Women for Water and Water for Women campaign” was held at drinking water treatment plants today. Women from various self-help groups visited the water treatment plant and had hands- on experience to understand the process involved in purifying and distributing drinking water effectively.
With a resolve to water conservation, the women were given live demonstrations on the working of the plant.
Awareness messages on the importance of drinking pure water and also on the drinking water treatment activities were demonstrated to the women. Jal Diwali is a nationwide campaign that ends today. It is an initiative launched by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs under its flagship scheme AMRUT.
