Two BSF jawans and a woman were injured in heavy firing by Pakistan Rangers on the International Border in Arnia and Suchetgarh sectors of Jammu district on Thursday night. The shelling caused many civilians to leave their homes and seek shelter in safer areas. BSF said, “Today at 8 pm, Pakistan Rangers opened fire without provocation on BSF posts in Arnia sector, to which BSF soldiers gave a befitting reply.” Half a dozen villages adjacent to the border were targeted in the firing in Arnia sector, after which Pakistani soldiers increased the firing in three villages of Suchetgarh sector. Some mortar shells were also fired by the Rangers targeting civilian areas. Police said that heavy firing continued till 11 pm, after which there was intermittent firing. The BSF jawans injured in the firing in Arnia sector have been identified as Basavaraj and Sher Singh of Karnataka. The injured woman has been identified as Rajni Bala (38), resident of Arnia.
