कठुआ दुष्कर्म केस के बाद देशभर में आरोपियों को कठोर सजा देने की मांग को लेकर हो रहे प्रदर्शन के बीच महिला और बाल विकास मंत्री मेनका गांधी का कहना है कि सरकार पॉक्सो ऐक्ट में संशोधन करने के लिए कैबिनेट की बैठक में प्रस्ताव लाएगी। इस संशोधन के मुताबिक, 12 साल से कम उम्र की बच्ची से दुष्कर्म के मामले में मौत की सज़ा का प्रावधान रखा जाएगा। अभी तक पॉस्को एक्ट के सेक्शन 3,4 और 6 के मुताबिक़ दुष्कर्म पर 10 से लेकर उम्र कैद की सज़ा का प्रावधान है।
