US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti on Thursday said the United States is ready\u00a0to assist India in dealing with the violence in Manipur<\/a>. Garcetti said for the US, Manipur is a “human concern” and it can bring more investment if peace is in place.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, a woman was shot dead outside a school in Manipur’s Imphal West district, a day after schools reopened in the area. The turmoil in Manipur began after a ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organised to contest the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
